Special Pieces
This area of the site is where I will put those things that do not fall into any regular category. They may not even have any turning involved. From time to time I will take on projects that intrigue me or are quite unusual in nature. Most are not for sale but they do show the wide range of things I do when inspiration hits.
One thing I will offer for sale is Veterans’ Cross of my own design that has become very important to me. I have published a book about my Uncle Lorne Marr who was killed in WWII titled Peter’s Argyll. In the process of researching this story I traveled to England, France and Scotland with an important visit to two Commonwealth Cemeteries where I placed this Celtic-styled cross on the graves of each of the 14 men killed in the same action as my uncle. These crosses had the Canadian poppy quarter imbedded in the center and a ribbon made from the Argyll tartan fastened with a Canadian flag pin.
For anyone who is making the trip to visit and remember one of our Canadian veteran’s gravesites, I am offering to make a replica of the cross as it appears in Peter’s Argyll. I will not add the ribbon or Canadian pin, but leave it to you to personalize as you wish. It may not be made from the same Curly Maple, but I will use one of our beautiful Canadian hardwoods.
